Artist's Statement

Whether a lightless underground cavern, a verdant Costa Rican rainforest, or the man-made canyons of New York City, I have always been drawn to explore different corners of the world. If I come back from a trip with a truly new memory -- the sight of an exotic animal in its native habitat, the taste a food I never heard of, the experience of another culture -- then I have been successful. I have learned something new about the world.

My initial foray into the world of clay started out as one of these visits. I viewed it as a chance to get to know a little more about the world, a hobby that would run its course, leaving me with another experience and a little more knowledge. Some twelve years later, I find my passion for working in clay stronger than ever. And as my abilities have grown, it has become a way for me to express the inspiration I draw from the other corners of the world I visit.
