Haystack?

Yes, haystack. As in a haystack rock. As in a round-topped erosional remnant sticking up from the ocean.

A mile from shore and some 327 feet tall, the haystack rock pictured in the Haystack Studio logo stands like a sentinnel over Pacific City on the central Oregon coast. Several years ago on a vacation that was to take my wife and me from the north to the south along the whole of the Oregon coast, a guidebook description of a brewpub on the beach drew us off of Highway 101. The charm of the town and the beauty of the rock and Cape Kiwanda (on the right side of the logo) convinced us that we not only wanted to spend the rest of our vacation in Pacific City, but that we wanted to move there.

We've taken steps to make the move a reality. In fact, starting The Haystack Studio is one of those steps. If I can be a successful potter in Eugene, then I can be a successful potter in Pacific City. So here I am, determined to make it happen. Give me a year or two and some luck, and I'll see you on the coast!
